Our main goal was to hike to the overlook of the Blue Glacier on Mount Olympus, which we saw from across the valley while hiking the High Divide loop on the earlier trip. The out-and-back trail starts from near sea level at the Hoh valley trailhead, amid lush temperate rainforest scenery, and ends at a spectacular viewpoint atop the glacier&#8217;s lateral moraine. It&#8217;s a long hike of about 36 miles, most commonly done as a 3-4 day backpack or as the first part of a technical climbing trip up Mount Olympus.
