A flying visit – literally – to the Lake District for a weekend exploring the backroads near Keswick and west of Ambleside. This was my first visit to England’s most celebrated national park in something like 30 years, and it was far more beautiful than I remembered. You need a hardy complexion to hike in the Lakes this late in the season, but the intermittent rain, wind and sunny spells made for fun driving and photography.
